Welcome back to another episode of accessible hack or send it back, the series where I test out accessible gadgets so you don't have to and today I'm trying out the Muggi. A plastic mug holder that is meant to make it easy to carry 4 drinks at once but will it work for someone who uses mobility aids?
The first issue I ran into was that it only fits very standard size and shaped mugs meaning some on the favourite mugs didn’t fit at all. I also want to get some double handled mugs to make tea drinking safer and more accessible for me and it wouldn’t work for this either.
It definitely makes it easier for anyone to hold more than one mug but 4 full mugs were too heavy for me so I stuck with 2 for this review.
First up I tried it on my walker which has a fabric surface so I wasn’t super hopeful that it would work but it worked surprisingly well helping me bring multiple drinks from one room into another!
Then I tried in on my lap whilst using my manual wheelchair, just with cold water at first for safety! There was a tiny bit of spillage but I was still impressed because the mugs were pretty full.
I then tried it with just one mug because I didn’t know if this would throw it off balance and whilst it did spill more the Muggi caught all of the spillage this time so i didn't end up with a wet lap!
Then it was time to get serious and test it out with two hot cups of tea. I was nervous but it actually worked like a dream and not a drop of tea was spilt. So overall I think this was a big success!
But what do you think? Is this an accessible hack or would you send it back? Let me know in the comments! And if you'd like to grab a Muggi for yourself you can use code CHRONICALLYJENNI for 10% off (ad-affiliate code)
