In case there was any confusion, I am in no way trying to vilify the creators who went to Japan. Many of them are my friends, try really hard, and make interesting & compelling content. My issue is with the system, not individual creators. Please don't go ripping on them in their comments. I didn't make this video to tear down other YouTubers or divide us. Thanks. 🤓🙏

I would say you definitely came undone. This made me laugh, good for you dude. Really good point about the S5 series cameras. I bought the S1H because of your review and then they come out with the S5II and now my camera is worthless, so I’m just using lidar with it. It’s got a half a stop more than the S5II anyway. And that’s the last Lumix camera I’m gonna buy. I am interested in the C400 though, I would buy that camera if you did the dynamic range test on it and it had 14 honest stops. The Komodo X is another one. I have no idea what the dynamic range is. According to CineD they’re basically isn’t a camera that has more than 13 stops at anaemic range and the S1H rates 4th in the world under only the C500 and the two Arri cameras. I have a hard time believing that. Anyways, your content is the best. Chin up!

I agree with you. Influencers get the new lenses and cameras etc. in advance. They usually don't get paid directly, but they live off of it indirectly. For me, they're something like lobbyists and that has a negative connotation.
If someone compares too much or doesn't say what the producers want to hear, they simply don't get a new product. But most influencers are dependent on it (affiliate link, advertising revenue, etc.). Of course they will criticize a little bit to make sure they're credible, but they mostly criticize unimportant functions or things that aren't really important. A lot of people just copy something from others - for example, from English and then bring it in a German version. Many were perhaps very good at tutorials for image editing programs, but nobody needs them anymore... and suddenly they're the photo specialists who know everything and test everything and know everything. Why did YouTube take away the dislike button? Ask yourself critically.

Some people say that watching/subscribing to YouTube doesn't cost anything, but I disagree. It costs me valuable time that often brings nothing.
But it does have its advantages and you can learn a lot or get information, but unfortunately there is a lot that is of no use to me. I don't want to proselytize here, that won't work, but I have often thought that I should make a video to inform people with little digital skills and understanding of marketing and strategy.

I think that in 5 to 10 years most of them will no longer be around - at some point people will understand that the reviews were not quite what it looks like in practice - at least after a few bad purchases. Most of the time you only find out what didn't work so well with the old version when the new version is introduced. Unfortunately there are very few who really say what they think and compare the products with other brands.

The thunderclap campaigns are a known perverse incentive of an embargo and to everyone playing that game, the have to acknowledge how they come across when they all publish at the same time. It's a weird life to lead when you try and leave the rat race by being a creator and situations like these make it feel like they are even more enslaved that the normal 'employee'; at the end of the day, youre still a rat I suppose

Are there any Youtubers out there who openly do hype videos? Like "Lumix paid for my trip to Japan so I made up 5 nice things to say about their camera." I wonder how long the situation would last if there were some creators who openly abused the system like that?

I think I'd be more likely to buy a product if a company actually owned up and said "Hey our new camera is great because of this but here's a few drawbacks"

For instance I used to own the Canon R7, my main photography interest is Shorebirds, sea ducks and waterfowl so I need a decent AF system amongst other things... unfortunately the claims that the R7 can shoot 30fps are false. I mean it can shoot at 30fps but the accuracy at that point goes right down, thinking it might be the lens I was using I rented the RF 600mm f4,punted it on a solid ground pod etc...and my keeper rate that day from around 1000 shots was 30-40%.

The second I dropped to 15fps it jumped up to 75-80%.

I picked the R7 knowing it wasn't a "professional" body so 10-15 FPS would have been fine for me.
