✒ ALLGEMEINE INFORMATIONEN ZUM SPIEL:
Mario Kart World (japanischer Titel: マリオカートワールド, Mario Kāto Wārudo) ist ein neuer Ableger der beliebten „Mario Kart“-Fun-Racer-Reihe von Nintendo und erscheint direkt als Launch-Titel für die Nintendo Switch 2 – auch als Bundle mit der Konsole. Es ist der Nachfolger von Mario Kart 8 Deluxe und bringt erstmals Open-World-Elemente in die Reihe. Die erste Enthüllung erfolgte am 16. Januar 2025 in einem Trailer zur Switch 2, die offizielle Vorstellung in der Nintendo Direct vom 2. April 2025.
Das Spiel bietet Rennen mit bis zu 24 Fahrern (vormals 12) und über 40 Nintendo-Charakteren – viele mit freischaltbaren Kostümen. Die Rennstrecken sind nun frei befahrbar und miteinander verbunden, ähnlich wie in Forza Horizon oder The Crew 2. Hierbei fährt man im klassischen „Grand Prix“ nur noch die erste der vier Strecken eines Cups wie gewohnt über drei Runden, den Rest über Verbindungsstrecken (Abschnitte) und jeweils nur die letzte Runde auf der Strecke selbst. Neben klassischen Rennen gibt es einen Battle-Royale-ähnlichen Modus, die K.-o.-Tour, bei der vier Fahrer nach jedem der Checkpoints ausscheiden, bis vier im Finale gegeneinander antreten. Neue Features sind Rails, auf denen man „gleiten“ kann, und Wandsprünge, die durch vorher aufgeladene Sprünge möglich werden. So bieten sich vor allem für geschickte Spieler einige neue Abkürzungen. Die bekannten Anti-Gravity-Elemente aus MK8 wurden entfernt.
Im „Freien Fahren“ lässt sich die gesamte Welt frei erkunden. Währenddessen können Spieler Missionen absolvieren, wie etwa „Fahre innerhalb der Zeit durch alle Ringe“ oder „Sammle innerhalb der Zeit alle blauen Münzen“. Diese Missionen lassen sich durch ca. 400 „P-Schalter“ aktivieren. Es sind aber auch „Peach-Medaillen“ und „?-Bodenplatten“ in der Welt versteckt.
Zeitfahren, Online-Rennen, Mehrspielermodi und Versus-Rennen sind natürlich auch wieder dabei. Bei Letzterem lassen sich sogar die ganz klassischen Regeln mit drei Runden auf jeder Strecke einstellen.
Optisch orientiert sich Mario Kart World am Stil von Super Mario Bros. Wonder und dem Super Mario Bros.-Film (beide 2023). Das Spiel erscheint digital für 79,99 € und physisch für 89,99 €, was bei Fans für Kritik sorgte.
